About Safety Direct Triggers

Event Triggers

Most of the events have to meet certain trigger conditions for the event to become active.  If an event meets the trigger condition for a severe event, there will also be 20 seconds of pre and post event data logged.

The events can be enabled to record a video clip of the event instance.  If the event has a severe threshold, the threshold has to be met to trigger video recording.  The video clip will cover ten seconds before and ten seconds after the event occurrence, but only five seconds before and five seconds after the event occurrence will be transferred over the air.

Trigger Description

Triggers

Value

HDW - (Highway Departure Warning)

When center of the vehicle leaves the lane marking, but no adjacent lane is detected.

Minimum Operating Speed

37 mph

HDB - (Highway Departure Braking)

When the inside edge of the vehicle crossed he road edge, but no adjacent lane is detected.

Minimum Operating Speed

37 mph

HDB - Overuse

HDB and HDW will be disabled until the next ignition/key cycle if too many HDB or HDW events occur.  The overuse limit for the HDB/HDW events are set to 5 total braking events or 10 total warning events.

Lane Departure Warning

When the vehicle speed is above the operating speed and an audio, haptic seat, or CAN lane departure warning is active, the event is logged

Excessive lane Departure

When the vehicle speed is above the operating speed and crosses the lane mark beyond the Depart Margin, the event is logged.

Lane Change w/o Turn Signal

When the vehicle speed is above the operating speed, and an audio, haptic seat or CAN lane departure is warning is active, and a lane change occurs, the event is logged. This event type records instances of lane changing without turn signals.

Minimum Operating Speed

37 mph

Loss of Video Tracking

When the vehicle speed is above the operating speed and the system is enabled and does not track either side lane markings for over 10 minutes, the event is logged.  A new event will log every ten minutes in the case when the sensor is covered.  This event type records instances of tampering with the camera to deliberately block it and prevent system operation.

Minimum Operating Speed

37 mph

Loss of Video Tracking
Severe

When the vehicle speed is above the operating speed and the system is enabled and does not track either side lane markings and exceeds the duration of the two hour trigger time, the event is logged.

Minimum Operating Speed

No Tracking severe

Manual Trigger

When the driver depresses the LDW disable switch for 5 consecutive seconds to store video, the system will save and store the previous 90 seconds and the next 10 seconds of video. The driver will hear an audible consisting of 3 short beeps. This function is only available with firmware version 19.09 and later.

Minimum Operating Speed

0 mph

LDW System Disabled

When the LDWS is disabled by the cancel switch, the event is logged

Cancel Switch activated

Distance Alert

When the vehicle speed is equal to or greater than the trigger speed and the following distance is less than the trigger value and exceeds the trigger duration, the event is logged.

This function is only available with firmware version 19.09 and later. Earlier versions trigger a data event whenever there is a distance alert.

Forward Collision Warning

When the vehicle speed is equal to or greater than the trigger speed and the ACC System issues a collision warning, the event is logged

ESP Severe

When both the vehicle speed is equal to or greater than the trigger speed and the ESC Braking signal is continuously active for the duration of the trigger time, the event is logged.

RSP

When both the vehicle speed is equal to or greater than the trigger speed and the RSP Braking signal is continuously active for the duration of the trigger time, the event is logged.

Excessive Braking Severe

(Severe Braking)

The event is triggered when the braking force is continuously equal to or greater than the trigger conditions for the duration of the trigger time and ends when either drops below its trigger conditions.  The peak braking force is logged for this event period.
